College students tend to spend a lot of their time in coffee shops. I know I spend a lot of time in coffee shops catching up with emails, studying for tests, or catching up with friends. However, there are a lot of times that the atmosphere can be overwhelming ! Long lines or little to non personal space . Does anyone else have any complaints about the typical coffee shops?
Yes indeed, I am definitely with you on that. I usually go out to Starbucks to study, work on group projects, or write essays but the surrounding environment is quite disturbing. People are either speaking too loud or playing music on their electronic devices. It's hard to get work done at local coffee shops. I wish there would be a local coffee shop that students can go to that's peaceful for doing school work.
ReplyDeleteI also go to coffee shop to study, but Starbucks are too noisy in most of time. So I found many good coffee shops at downtown Fullerton with different styles, like 1960 style, garden style, and fashion. If you are also a coffee shop fan, I can tell you where are those shops at.
ReplyDeleteI would have to agree with the the long lines and lots of people inside the coffee shops. As an idea you can also think about having extended hours for students. As for me there is also those exams and projects where you have to spend late nights studying or working on projects and all the coffee shops tend to close at 9pm or earlier. So possibly doing a coffee shop that stays open to midnight and have it near a college campus and you can market to those students.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love coffee shops. Although the image of what a coffee shop in my head looks like is different from reality. I would love to study in a coffee shop because the aroma off the beans makes me feel really refreshed and calm, so it would be an ideal place for studying. But there are always long lines, a lot of people, and it also gets quite noisy so I find it really hard to study. Also some of the coffee shops I've been to tend to have dim lighting towards night time. Makes it hard to study there.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with the complaints that your group has for coffee shops. The few times that I have tried going to coffee shops like Starbucks to study, it was always so crowded and I agree with you when you say that the atmosphere is often overwhelming. The noise and the surrounding people were very distracting and the all the tables were so close together that there was barely any room to place my books.
ReplyDeleteI have felt same things when I waited at the line. But seriously, at Starbucks in CSUF, the line is always too long but, the stuffs seem like they don't really care about how they manage the long line smoothly..... And the people on the line just wait without any complain. But the truth shouldn't be right....
ReplyDeleteI never study at coffee shops. Isn't a coffee shop suppose to be a place to buy coffee and enjoy a good half hour chat with a friend, as opposed to a place for people to sit for long periods of time to study? With that said, my complaint might be that there are too many people who are turning coffee shops into study halls.
